Foil insulation

Many New Zealand homes have foil insulation under the floorboards. Do not touch this unless you know the power has been turned off at the mains.

Foil insulation is not very effective at keeping in the heat, particularly - as is often the case - when it is ripped or torn. We'd recommend replacing any foil with bulk insulation but please do get a professional to do this as foil insulation can be electrically dangerous.
