Check the bulbs in each of the light fittings in the living room, kitchen, hall and bedrooms. HomeFit rewards homes that mostly have compact fluorescent (CFL) or LED bulbs.
The light bulb we've all known for years. Incandescent bulbs are inexpensive to buy, but most of the energy they consume is turned into heat rather than light and they don't last very long compared with modern bulbs.
Get these replaced as soon as possible, particularly in areas where the lights are used a lot such as living rooms and kitchens.
Typical halogen lamp used in kitchen fittings. These are slightly more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs but still don't pass the grade for HomeFit. LED replacements for these type of lamps are now available.

Typical LED bayonet bulb. These are extremely energy efficient and long lasting. They have also dropped a lot in price so in many cases, they pay for themselves in months. Image courtesy of Philips.
LEDs are also available as recessed fittings. Most commonly they have an opaque look like the one in this picture. Image courtesy of Philips.
LEDs are now available that look very much like the older incandescent bulbs but use a fraction of the energy. You can tell they're LED by the noticeably yellow filament. Image courtesy of Philips.
