Smoke Alarms

Smoke alarms: Between 2005 and 2015 there were over 42,000 house fires causing nearly 200 fatalities in New Zealand. In most cases the fatalities were in homes with no working smoke alarms. These simple devices are very effective at detecting fires early and allowing people to evacuate.

Is there at least one smoke alarm on each floor of the home?
Is there a working smoke alarm within 3m (or inside) each bedroom?

Why having working smoke alarms is important

Smoke alarms are critical and are a mandatory requirement for rental properties, as well as in all new buildings. Consider long life photoelectric smoke alarms. They last longer and their batteries are less likely to be disabled, or to be set off accidentally.
